Living well vs. revenge

By gaugeyagee

I usually don’t blog about stuff like this… hell, I usually don’t blog at all, but something’s been on my mind lately that meets my strict blogging criteria.

What is it about life that I don’t “get”? Allow me to elaborate. Some people seem to be of the mindset that there is something, or many things, about life, love, relationships, responsibility, etc. that I don’t understand. They believe there are things that will blindside me at some point because I’m too naive, too shortsighted, not intelligent enough, don’t have the “right stuff”, however the hell they want to put it.

They have suggestions for me. I listen, and well…. discard most of them. Most of the time, they have no clue what they’re talking about. I judge this based not on the logic of what they’re saying, but by evaluating how their approach has worked for them. For example, would you take moneymaking advice from somebody who is struggling to pay bills? Would you take relationship advice from people who can’t keep a stable relationship? Would you take job-hunting advice from somebody who hates their job?

I believe I am doing very well for myself and frankly am a bit tired of all the doubters. What exactly am I doing wrong when my approach to all things in life works for me?

Rhetorical question? I don’t know. All comments welcome.

I think you already know the answer to this. Someone could go and tell you what to do about a situation such as this, but that would be hypocrytical.

The only thing I can say is (and yes I AM hypocrytical sometimes, but at least I admit it) do whatever you want. Your life is yours to live – NOTHING someone else does is going to work exactly the same for you. Its not that they dont mean well (I think), but they have to understand that you are you. Advice should always be welcome, but understood when it isnt followed.

Thats what I think. Im going back to be myself now.

Dude, I’m going to give you some life advice now. PLAY EVE!!! Take that advice, or don’t. But be aware, you may be subject to camel rape if you don’t.

  4. Josh M Says:

I have to agree with that. EVE is hot. And relaxing.

I love the dieting advice I get from fat people!

What exactly do they think you “don’t get”?

Am I one of the people? hehe

(P.S. People should take financial advice from ME. Never carried credit card debt in my life!)

@Josh: that’s not hypocritical at all! It’s an approach to life that seems to work for you, so I see nothing wrong with suggesting it to others.

    @Nate: Thanks. :)

@Noboru: I may take that advice in a few years when I’m out of grad school. I know I’ll be WAAAAAY behind in the game by then, but whateva.

@Beth: Haha, never got any of that.

@Amber: Thanks. I’m basically ticked at anybody who doubts, or has ever doubted my potential.

@Clint: I’m not sure what it is. I can just tell certain people (you’re not one of them) think that about me by the way they approach certain topics or respond when they are brought up.
And yes, if I ever need any financial advice, I’m going to you. :) I also have never carried credit card debt, mostly due to the fact that I don’t really spend much money (this year is the exception).

…And that’s the big trick… Budgeting, balancing a checkbook — those are things that people who WANT to spend all their money do. I’ve never done ‘em… don’t know when my paycheck is deposited.. could only tell you my bank account balance within a +/- $5K range…… I don’t know why everyone else makes it out to be so hard, but then again we do make good money so that is definitely part of it…….
